What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website leaves in a visitor’s browser and that the browser sends back on later visits. It can identify a session, remember a preference or, when it is a profiling cookie, follow a person from one site to another. Alongside cookies there are tools that achieve the same result without going through the server, such as the browser’s local storage: the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021 treat them together with cookies, which is why they appear on this page too.

Why there is no banner

This site uses no profiling cookies, has no analytics or statistics tools, carries no advertising and embeds no third-party content. The only tools in use are technical ones that make the site work. Article 122(1) of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003, as amended by Legislative Decree 101/2018) exempts technical cookies from prior consent: that is why no consent dialog appears.

  Remembers the products you have set aside in the shop, so they are still there if you close the page. The contents stay in your browser: they reach our servers only when you send a quote request, and from that point the privacy notice applies.

  The same, for the light displays you set aside from the catalogue. The two lists stay separate on purpose: setting aside a light display does not make it show up among the shop products.

Legal basis

The tools listed above are installed on the basis of Article 122(1) of the Italian Privacy Code, which requires no consent where they serve solely to carry out the transmission of a communication or to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. Any related processing of personal data is based on the controller’s legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service, under Article 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

Third-party cookies

There are none. Typefaces are hosted on our own domain and are not requested from external servers, so browsing this site triggers no calls to third parties. The share buttons at the foot of articles are ordinary links: they lead to Facebook or LinkedIn, and it is those sites, once you get there, that apply their own notices. As long as you stay on these pages, nothing of theirs reaches you.

Where the data is held

The database and the file archive are in the European Union, in Frankfurt. The functions that render the pages and receive form submissions, however, are run by the hosting provider in a data centre in the United States: what you send passes through there before being stored in Europe. The transfer is governed by the contract with the provider, which adopts the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission under Article 46 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. The content of form submissions is also delivered to us by email through a provider based in the United States, under the same safeguards: the details are in the privacy notice. None of the tools described on this page involves a transfer in itself: the local stores never leave your browser.

How to delete or block them

You can delete cookies already stored and stop new ones from being written through your browser settings, which also let you clear local storage along with the rest of the site data. Blocking them does not stop you from reading the public pages: clearing local storage does delete the products and light displays you had set aside.

You may at any time request access to, rectification of, erasure of, restriction of and portability of the data concerning you, and object to its processing, under Articles 15 to 22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
